UK Nationality Adviser

British Citizenship also know as British Nationality or UK Nationality can be obtained in different ways. Some are British citizens by birth and others can become through registration or naturalisation.
Ways to Become British Citizen:
  • By Birth in the UK – Not all those born in the UK are British by birth. It depends on parents circumstances and the child’s own circumstances. children born to British citizens or those settled in the UK are British by birth.
  • Normally 12 months after Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), you can apply for British Citizenship. Some can apply immediately after obtaining ILR.

  • Children born in the UK to parents on limited leave can apply for British Citizenship immediately after their parents have been granted ILR.
  • If you and your family member are from the EU, EEA or Switzerland, you can apply for ‘settled status’ after you’ve lived in the UK for 5 years. To apply for citizenship with the settled status you must usually have lived in the UK for 12 months after getting it.
